Morkrid Poncho

This is the sixth piece of knitwear in a collection inspired by the astounding nature in the Sogn og Fjordane region of Norway: first was Fanaraaken, second was Molden, third was Myrhorn, Feigefossen was fourth and Jotunheimen the fifth. The inspiration for this design is the Mørkrid valley and river, nestled into the innermost reaches of the Sognefjord. The imaginative knitter will see how the artistic design of the colorwork is inspired by this mighty river (“Mørkridelve”) which winds through the valley (“Mørkridalen”) in the shadow of the surrounding mountains.

The topdown, seamless poncho features a rolled neck which is mirrored by the applied i-cord along the bottom edge of the poncho. The 4 raglans, one on each shoulder, one each at center front and back, provide shaping.

Difficulty level: Advanced: includes stranded colorwork and applied i-cord bind-off.
